Our Mission Statement
Virtual Carrier Air Wing 3 (VCVW-3) exists to provide a structured, team-oriented environment focused on mastering the F/A-18C Hornet and carrier-based operations.Inspired by CVW-3 circa 2004, our mission is to develop proficient aviators through realistic training, coordinated mission execution, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement.
We aim to balance realism with accessibility—creating an environment where members can grow, contribute, and operate as part of a cohesive air wing.
Units
VCVW-3 is composed of multiple aviation units inspired by real-world squadrons assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 circa 2004. Each unit plays a specific role in training and operations.VFA-105 — “Gunslingers”
VMFAT-101 — “Sharpshooters”
What We Do
F/A-18C Hornet Operations- We focus entirely on the Hornet, allowing for deeper proficiency and better coordination across the unit.
- Carrier-Based Flying
- Case I/II/III operations, day and night recoveries, and full integration with the boat.
- Structured Training Pipeline
- A step-by-step syllabus designed to take pilots from basic proficiency to tactical qualification.
- Mission-Focused Events
- CAP, strike, CAS, and coordinated multi-ship operations.
- Team-Oriented Flying
- Emphasis on section/division tactics, comms, and working as a unit—not just solo flying.
How We Operate
We operate using standard procedures and a structured training approach, but without overcomplicating things. The goal is to create a consistent and immersive experience while still keeping it enjoyable.Training, operations, and progression are all designed to reflect real-world concepts in a way that’s practical and engaging.
